Walter L. Ellis, 47, of Whitesboro, formerly of Clinton, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday, June 24, 2012 at his home. Wally was born on April 12, 1965 in New Hartford, the son of Robert C. and Beverly (Brockett) Ellis. He was raised and educated in Clinton, graduating Class of 1984. He went on to serve his country with the US Army. Walt was employed with the Village of New Hartford. He enjoyed spending time with the guys at work. Walt was a member of the Helmuth-Ingalls American Legion Post #232, Franklin Springs. He enjoyed going to auctions. Wally was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially at his hunting camp with his friend, Larry. Wally is survived by his two children, Corey M. Ellis, West Winfield, and Ashley E. Ellis, Ilion; his mother, Beverly Ellis, Clinton; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Carey and Jeff Lindfield, West Winfield, Carol and Philip Orsino, Deansboro; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Chris and Susan Ellis, Clinton, and Andrew Ellis, Clinton. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Walt is predeceased by his father, Robert, in 2005. Mr. Ellis' funeral service will be held on Friday, June 29, 2012 at 10:00 am at the Heintz Funeral Home, 10 East Park Row, Clinton. Interment will take place in Crown Hill Memorial Park, Kirkland. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Thursday evening, from 4 - 7 pm. The Helmuth-Ingalls American Legion Post #232 will be conducting their service at 6:30 pm.
