Anna D. Romer, 93 , of Utica, passed away May 28,2012, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare in New Hartford with her loving son at her side. Anna was born in Lviv, Ukraine on May 19, 1919, where she was raised and educated. While in the Ukraine she acquired her degree in nursing. After moving to the United States, Anna was married to Walter Diachuk, who passed away in 1983. She later married Prof. Harold Romer, who passed away in 1993. Anna was on the nursing staff at Faxton Hospital until her retirement. She was a devout member and former treasurer of St. Peter and Paul's Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Utica, as well as a member of the Sisterhood of the church, and church choir. Anna is survived by her son, Miron Diachuk of NY; two granddaughters, Danelle Mary Diachuk of FL. and Wendy Gregg of CA. and a grandson, Walter Diachuk of Utica. She is also survived by family in the Ukraine. She was predeceased by one son, Walter Orest Diachuk in 2003, and several brothers and sisters in the Ukraine. Mrs. Romer's funeral will be held Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Peter and Paul's Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Hamilton St., Utica, with her burial in the parish cemetery, Wood Rd., Whitesboro, NY. Calling hours will be at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd, N. Utica on Friday evening, from 5:00 to 7:00, with a Vigil Service at 6:00 PM.
