(Margaret) Irene Keating entered into rest at the Presbyterian Home at the age of 92 on May 9, 2012. Irene was born in Little Falls, N.Y. on December 9, 1919, daughter of the late James and Margaret (Brennan) O'Heron. Irene graduated from high school in Little Falls and business school in Utica. She married John Keating on May 20, 1950, a devoted union of 29 years until Keat's death in 1979. Irene worked for Langdon and Hughes Electrical Contractors for 30 years, retiring early in order to spend full time caring for her mother. She was a long time parishioner of St. Peter's Catholic Parish in North Utica. "Aunt Rene" is survived by her nephew Jim O'Heron and his wife, Sandi, of Ohio; niece Terry Keller and her husband, Larry, of California; great nephews Eric Hosler of California, Ryan Hosler and his wife, Aimee, of Virginia, and Michael O'Heron of Michigan; great great niece Katrina Hays of Arizona, great great nephews Ashton and Liam Hosler of Virginia. Also survived by her close cousin Mary O'Heron of Albany. Other special people in Irene's life include Jane Linder of Utica and Jean Emery of Marcy (from her sister-in-law's family), Barbara and Roy Mahardy of Utica (next-door neighbors), and Rita Van Dresar (close friend). She was predeceased by her brother John O'Heron Family and friends are invited to attend Irene's funeral service on Wednesday May 16, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. at the Calvary Cemetery chapel, 2407 Oneida St., Utica.
