Obituary of Paul James Guldenzoph

Mr. Paul James Guldenzoph, 70, of Newport, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at his home.
Paul was born in Saginaw, MI on August 6, 1947, the son of Edwin and Vera (Menter) Guldenzoph. He was raised and educated in Saginaw, was a graduate of St. Peter and Paul High School, earned his Master’s degree in education from Western Michigan University and attended Harvard University. Paul honorably served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. At one time, Paul was married to Ruth Clemens. Paul was employed as a grant writer and most recently as a self-employed farmer with Summitt Hill Farm in Newport, NY. He was a member of Historic Old St. John’s Church in Utica.
Mr. Guldenzoph is survived by his partner, Mark Ritzel of Newport; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Janice and Guy Merriam of Michigan and Patricia Schactner of Arizona; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas and Lori Guldenzoph, Daniel and Patricia Guldenzoph and Robert and Jean Guldenzoph all of Michigan as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and close friends.
Mr. Guldenzoph’s funeral will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at Historic Old St. John’s Church in Utica where his Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. A memorial service and burial will be held in Saginaw MI at a later date. There are no calling hours.
