Dr. Rose Mary Roy, the former Sr. Rose Virginié, daughter of the late Leo Lucien and Mary (Maggiolino) Roy, passed away with her beloved brother at her side on Monday, April 16, 2012 at the age of 62 due to a rare form of cancer. Rose Mary, who was born on April 18, 1949, in Utica, had friends throughout the world due to her having been a member of several religious communities including the Franciscan Sisters of Allegheny; Intercessors of the Lamb, Omaha, NE; and Brides of the Victorious Lamb, also in Omaha. Dr. Roy earned a PhD and CAS from SUNY Albany, master's degrees from SUNY Albany and Niagara University, respectively, and a B.A., summa cum laude, from Rosary Hill College. Rose Mary leaves behind her beloved brother, Joseph John Roy, of New Hartford; godmother and aunt, Connie Mulvihill; aunts, Genevieve and her husband Anthony DiMambro, Diane Forte, and Helen Maggiolino; cousins, Cynthia Zysk, Marianne Brooks, Geralynn Owens, Donna Reilly, Anne Marie Mulvihill, Michele Forte and Glenda, Mary Ann Lewis, Robert Deschano, and other cousins who were dear to Rose Mary; beloved friend Jeanette Williams and beloved friend Betty Frank with whom Rose Mary shared a great devotion to Eucharistic and Perpetual Adoration. Because Rose Mary wanted a private wake, we respectfully note that there are no public calling hours. Rose Mary's funeral will be concelebrated at St. John the Evangelist Church, New Hartford on Friday, April 20, 2012 at 10:00. In lieu of cards, consider making a donation to Perpetual Adoration at St. Joseph and St. Patrick Church or to Eucharistic Adoration at Our Lady of Lourdes Seton Center.
