Obituary of Isabel N. Cawley

Isabel Cawley, longtime resident of Clinton, died at the Masonic Care Community April 13, 2012. Born to Earl and Elizabeth Niermeyer in Utica, June 14, 1921, she attended Utica schools. She was married to Donald Cawley from 1942 until his death in 2002. Isabel was a devoted homemaker and mother of ten. Active in the community, she volunteered as a Cub Scout den mother and a Girl Scout leader. She taught religious instruction at St. Mary's church, Clinton, and was a longtime volunteer at the Kirkland Art Center Thrift Shop. She is survived by her children, Susan Judge and husband, Charles, NC; Ann Cawley, New York Mills; Patricia Bittle and husband, James, OH; Therese Ulinski, Clinton; Michael Cawley, Utica; James McGuffin-Cawley and wife, Wendy, OH; Peter Cawley, Clinton; Jane Cawley and husband, Bertram Braun, MD; Sarah Cabiya and husband, Jose, Singapore; and Vincent Cawley, Utica. Isabel is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brothers, Earl Niermeyer and wife, Kathy; Karl Niermeyer and wife, Carol; and her sister, Marjorie Niermeyer; as well as son-in-law, Joseph Ulinski. A memorial service will be held for Mrs. Cawley on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Church, Clinton. Arrangements entrusted to the Heintz Funeral Home, 10 East Park Row, Clinton. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Kirkland Town Library or the Kirkland Art Center. The family is grateful for the kindness shown to Isabel during her stay at both the Presbyterian Home in New Hartford and the Masonic Care Community in Utica.
