Mr. Michael A. Lorento, 83, of Utica passed away on Wednesday April 11, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica with his loving family by his side. Michael was born in Utica on July 9, 1928 the son of Salvatore "Sam" and Maria (Barone) Lorento. He was raised in Utica, was a graduate of Proctor High School and Utica School of Commerce. Michael honorably served in the US Marine Corps during WW II. On December 1, 1951, Michael married Patricia Bates at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Utica. For 38 Years, he was employed with General Electric Company retiring in 1989. He also assisted his son Brian as "co-manager" with the daily operations of Video-To-Rol in N. Utica. Michael was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Utica, as well as a member of the Lourdes Men's Club and Shuffle Board league. He was also a life Member of American Legion Utica Post 229 in N. Utica and was an avid coin collector and stamp collector. Mr. Lorento is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia; seven daughters and six sons-in-law, Donna and Andrew Manley of Deerfield, Barbara and Doug Ellis of N. Utica, Theresa and Charles Haddad of N. Utica, Mary and Rene Bruyere of Denver, NC, Patricia and Thomas Gogola of Clinton, Kathy Lorento of Frankfort and Christine and Michael LaBarbera of New Hartford; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael J. and Dianne Lorento of Galena, IL and Brian Lorento and his special friend Samantha Bun and Mugsy of Utica; one sister, Marietta Constabile of Utica; sixteen cherished grandchildren, Todd Manley, Ryan Manley, Nicole Manley, Gary Lorento, Bobby Lorento, Jamie Meyers, Tori Ellis, Zachary Ellis, Sarah Haddad, Michael Zane Lorento, Matthew Gogola, Cory Gogola, Alexandra Casamento, Joseph Casamento, Anthony LaBarbera and Michael LaBarbera; six adored great grandchildren, Andrew Manley, Cameron Manley, Maddison Manley, Logan VanDoren, Cody Manley and Bianca Timpano; four sisters-in-law, Camille Lorento of Clinton, Patricia Lorento of Boston, MA, Mary McDermott of Buffalo and Elizabeth Bates of CA; one brother-in-law, Gerald Bates of New Mexico; his lifelong friend, Tom Everson of New Hartford and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Vincent Lorento and Anthony Lorento. Mr. Lorento's Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday April 14, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Our lady of Lourdes Church in Utica. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. The family will greet relatives and friends from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at the Church prior to the memorial Mass. Mr. Lorento's family extend their heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff of St. Elizabeth Medical Center, especially the ICU, for the care and compassion you gave to Michael and for the wonderful support you provided to his family.
