Obituary of Vivian C. Weeks
Please share a memory of Vivian to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Our beautiful mother, Vivian Helen Collins Weeks, was born June 6, 1928 and passed away peacefully surrounded with love on July 8, 2018 at the age of 90. Vivian was the daughter of John and Stephania Pfiefer Collins. She was a graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School Class of 1946 and Utica School of Commerce. Vivian was married to Ernest W. Weeks, Jr. in 1952 at St. Joseph’s Church, Utica. They were married for 54 years, prior to his passing in 2006. Prior to her children, Vivian was employed with Slocum Dickson Medical Group as a Radiologic Technologist. She taught Religious Education for St. Anne’s Parish. After her children were grown, Vivian was her daughter’s business manager at Mary Lourdes Academy of Dance, where she enjoyed the friendship of many families she met. Vivian was a founding member and an Extraordinary Minister of St. Anne’s Parish in Whitesboro and later a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church. She was a member of the Christian Family Movement, Catholic Women’s Club, Gamma Chi Catholic Sorority, Confraternity of Christian Doctrine, American Society of Roentgenologists, and the Parents Association of Nazareth College. Vivian was a woman of integrity, kindness and class. She loved to laugh and to be with her children and grandchildren, around whom she built her world. She provided them endless support and was a compassionate and patient listener. She was always ready for fun and laughter. Vivian leaves behind her five children, Cathleen Ann Weeks, of Syracuse, Cynthia Weeks Knepka (Robert), of Whitesboro, Ernest W. Weeks III (MaryEllen), of Clinton, Mary Lourdes Weeks Kalil (Michael), of Clinton and Carolyn Weeks Yacco (Steven), of Whitesboro as well as her beloved grandchildren, Ernest W. Weeks IV (Amanda), Ashleigh (Kevin) Krogol, Leah Weeks, Caitlyn (Gianni) Notaro, Megan Knepka, Kacie, Lauren and Michael Kalil Jr., Steven Jr., Jessica and Sarah Yacco and five great grandchildren, Alzaina, Amerah and Adalind Weeks and Finley and Weston Krogol. Mrs. Weeks’ funeral will be held on Friday, July 13, 2018 at 11:30 at St. Paul’s Church, Whitesboro. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica are Thursday from 4 – 8. Those so wishing may make donations to Notre Dame Jr. Sr. High School or the Stevens Swan Humane Society in Vivian’s memory. The family would like to thank the staff of the PCU at MVHS for their kindness and support during this difficult time and Vivian’s aide, Tracy, for caring for our mother like family. Vivian leaves these words: “My life was a beautiful gift from God. I spent it with a kind and caring husband. We were given five children who were our life and loves. Then God rewarded us with the ultimate gift of 11 grandchildren who rounded out our twilight years with happiness, that was the greatest gift of all.”
