Obituary of Jane Ellen Hogan

Jane Ellen Fitzpatrick Hogan, 87, died on March 30, 2012 in Denver, CO. following complications from surgery with her family at her side. Jane Ellen was born in Utica on September 12, 1924, the daughter of Thomas W. and Jane (Dawes) Fitzpatrick. She was raised and educated in Clinton, and later attended RIT in Rochester. On October 7, 1947, she married Timothy M. Hogan, of Hogan's Confectionary Store in Clinton. Mr. Hogan passed away in 1964. During World War II , Jane Ellen worked at the state laboratory in Marcy, and later as the proprietor of The Children's Corner, and in several Clinton businesses including The Park Row Pharmacy, Sallie's Newsstand, the Clinton House Restaurant, and the Alexander Hamilton Inn. Jane was a member of St. Mary's Church and the Clinton Historical Society. Jane Ellen is survived by her four children and their spouses, Mary Anne and Howard Kaplan of Kent, OH., Sue Ellen Hogan and Richard Waller of Pinole, CA., Patricia Hogan and Charles Phillips of Rochester, NY. and Michael and Maureen Hogan of Denver, CO. Also her grandchildren, Matthew Kaplan, Erin Beseda, Katie Riley, and Maggie and Brigid Hogan; and great-grandchildren, Jacob Kaplan, and Noah, Leah, and Emma Beseda. She leaves a sister, Mary Kiehm of Utica; a sister-in-law, Betty Fitzpatrick, Clinton; a brother-in-law, Ormond Ewers, Clinton; and several nieces and nephews and all those who called her their second mother. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her son Timothy Jr. in 2006, her brothers, Daniel, Thomas and John(Jack) Fitzpatrick and sisters Elizabeth Fitzpatrick and Anne Ewers. Mrs. Hogan's funeral will be held Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at 10:30 am at St. Mary's Church in Clinton where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery, Clinton, will follow. Calling hours, at the Heintz Funeral Home, 10 East Park Row, Clinton, will be held from 4 - 7 pm, this evening. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary's Church, to the Clinton Historical Society or to a Hospice Facility of your choice in Jane Ellen's memory.
