Dan C. Held, 88, of Livermore, California, went to be with the Lord on March 29, 2012, at his daughter's home in Utica, New York surrounded by his children. He was born November 28, 1923 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the son of the late George and Emma Cummins Held. He was an only child. He graduated from University Of Tulsa with a major in business and accounting. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp in WWII. He was employed by Sandia Laboratories as an accountant for 35 years. He was a long standing member of the Livermore-Pleasanton Elks Lodge #2117. He was also a 50 years plus member of the Grand Lodge Free and Accepted Masons of California acquiring a degree of Master Mason on May 9, 1951. Mr. Held enjoyed football, baseball, basketball and golf and was an avid boater and fisherman. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his son George Held of Seattle, WA; his daughter Helen Held-Cummings of Utica, NY; his daughter Janet Blessing of Arroyo Grande, CA; his step-daughter Joan Vargas of Madera, CA; and his step-daughter Kay Van Gassbeck of Sugarland, TX. Additionally, he is survived by the following grandchildren: Shawn Held of Tacoma, WA; Rachael Felice of Colorado Springs, CO; Ricky Blessing of Arroyo Grande, CA; Ryan Blessing of Arroyo Grande, CA; Dan Brown, Copenhagen, NY; Devan Brown, Seattle, WA; David Vargas, Madera, CA; Lisa Vargas, Madera, CA, and Ronnie Van Gassbeck of Sugarland, TX and 7 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his best friend Billy "Bud" Biehl of Livermore, CA. Mr. Held was preceded in death by his wife, Janice. A memorial service hosted by the Livermore-Pleasanton Elks Lodge and the Masons will be held in Livermore, CA.
