Obituary of Charles Lewis Bacon
Please share a memory of Charles to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Charlie L. Bacon, affectionately known as "Pops" by his family, was called home to Heaven on Sunday, March 18th 2012, after a brief illness. Charlie developed a strong and lasting bond with his companion and wife, the former Pauline Leigh and her seven children. As the Patriarch of their blended family, Charlie provided stability, compassion, balance, laughter and safety for them all. As a result of their union, Charlie enjoyed being a pivotal inspiration and centerpiece to his many beloved Grand Children and their children, all of whom held a special place in his heart. The only thing greater than Charlie's love for his family; is the love of his family for him. Charlie enjoyed playing checkers, especially as he was constantly being challenged by his family, extended family and their friends to matches they were destined to lose. He took deep pride in every single match and encouraged others not to give up, teaching them valuable lessons in patience and strategy. Charlie had a deep and undying love for his dogs; all of which are now by his side. Please join his family in a celebration of his life on Friday, March 23, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Utica. Calling hours for family and friends are Thursday from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
