Obituary of Abraham E. Kallasy

Abraham E. Kallasy, 87, of North Utica, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center in New Hartford. Abraham was born August 31, 1924 in NY Mills, NY the son of Elias and Sarah (Trad) Kallasy and received his education in local schools. Abraham honorably served in the US Navy during WW II. For many years, until his retirement, he was employed with Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome. Abraham was a parishioner of St. Louis Gonzaga Church in Utica and a member of American Legion Utica Post 229 in N. Utica. He enjoyed Golf, gardening and was an avid NY Yankee and NY Giants fan. Mr. Kallasy is survived by his nephew, Daniel Levangie and his wife Beverly of MA; niece, Jeanne Reuther and her husband David of MI; great nieces, Robin Levangie of CT and Sarabeth Levangie of MA; great nephew, Adam Peterson of MI and great great nephew, Nathaniel Whalen of CT. He was predeceased by his parents, Elias and Sarah; two sisters, Jenny Levangie and Mary Kallasy and brother, John Kallasy. Mr. Kallasy's funeral will be held on Wednesday March 14, 2012 at 9:15 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica and 10:00 at St. Louis Gonzaga Church in Utica where the Divine Liturgy of The Faithful Departed will be celebrated. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Yorkville. Calling hours for family and friends are Tuesday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Those wishing to make a donation in Abraham's memory, please consider St. Louis Gonzaga Church or the Dialysis unit at St. Luke's memorial Hospital.
