Mr. Philip I. Rothstein, 86, of Utica, passed away on Monday, June 25, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica. Philip was born in the Bronx, NY on June 12, 1932, the son of Harry and Florence Rothstein. He was raised and educated in the Bronx and attended the RCA Institute in NY City. For 39 years, he was employed with General Electric Company, retiring in 1992. For 15 years, Philip was a dedicated volunteer with the Resource Center for Independent Living (RCIL) in Utica and for several years with the Masonic Care Community in Utica. He was the founder of the Utica Road Rally Club and founder of the Utica Commodore User Group. Mr. Rothstein is survived by his three children, David and Tamara Rothstein of Winter Garden, FL, Lisa and Randall Hogans of Utica and Kevin Rothstein and Tracey Roberts of Utica and their mother, Evelyn Billins of Utica; his longtime companion, Audrey Rizzo of Utica; three cherished grandchildren, Nicholas Rothstein, Jeremy Hogans and Michael Rothstein; two adored great grandchildren, Jordan and Amber Rothstein; one brother and sister-in-law, Alex and Audrey Rothstein of Long Island, NY; a niece Debbie and a nephew Larry as well as numerous extended family members and many dear friends. He was predeceased by his grandson, Joshua Rothstein. Mr. Rothstein’s funeral will be held on Monday, July 2, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. His burial, in Forest Hill Cemetery in Utica, will be held at the convenience of his family. Calling hours for family and friends are Monday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Resource Center for Independent Living, 409 Columbia St., Utica, NY 13502 in Philip’s memory. Mr. Rothstein’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Staff at the St. Luke’s Home and Rehabilitation Center, St. Elizabeth Medical Center and Nascentia Health for the wonderful care and compassion you provided to Philip.
