Dorothy Ann "Dewey" (Hecox) Cox of Utica, New York, went home to the Lord on Thursday, January 12, 2012. She was born in Utica on July 12, 1932 the daughter of the late and George and Grace (Ohl) Hecox. On June 8, 1957 she married Robert Cox who predeceased her in 1997. Dewey was a graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School. She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church until its closing. Her first profession was as an amazing mother and grandmother. She never missed a birthday, concert, game or special event that her kids were involved in. In addition, Dewey worked at Utica National Insurance Company and retired in 1991. She was a friend to all and generous to anyone in need. She is survived by her very thankful children and their spouses Anne and Kevin Schwenzfeier of Latham, NY, Kathleen and Paul Ziarko of Sherrill, NY, Mary Cox and Frank Paladino of Latham, NY, Susan and Dr. Edward Casper of Whitesboro, NY and Robert Cox and Amy Pepe of Larchmont, NY. Dewey was the proud and loving grandmother of seventeen grandchildren including Kevin, Brian, Matthew and Adam Schwenzfeier, Paul, Benjamin and Jessica Ziarko, Cecelia and Alana Paladino, Eddie, Nicholas and Jenna Casper and Robert, Aaron, Jason, Charles and Sarah Cox. She is survived by her sister and special angel Margaret Hecox, and her sisters and brother-in-law Elinor Kemp and Frances and Daniel Roemer. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Patricia Cox, Bette Hennessey, Margaret and Neil Waterman, Matilda Hecox and Thomas Cox. She will be missed by many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Dewey was predeceased by her granddaughter, Amanda Casper, her brothers and sister-in-law, Lawrence (Mike), Charles (Pete) and James and June Hecox, and in-laws, Marilyn and Gus Engler John Cox and Joan Cox Reimenschneider, Stanley Kemp and John Hennessey. The family would like to thank all of the special and loving caregivers who have been such an important part of Dewey's life for the past year. Calling hours for Mrs. Cox will be held on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro Street, Utica from 3pm to 7pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, January 16, 2012 at 11: 00 am at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, New Hartford, NY. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Utica, NY.
