Michael W. Knapp, Sr., 58, of Schuyler passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center. Michael was born in Utica on July 10, 1953 a son of Shirley (Meyers) Knapp and the late F. Millard Knapp. At Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Utica on February 14, 1976 Michael married Catherine Schaaf. Michael was the 4th generation owner and operator of the Iron Kettle Auction House in Schuyler. Michael was a member and past president of the Schuyler Volunteer Fire Department, member and past president of the North Utica Rotary, a board member of the North Utica Community Center and a past president of Engine 11. Michael is survived by his wife, Cathy, his mother, Shirley Knapp, NY Mills, his two daughters and son, Amelia Jacobs and husband Aaron of Schuyler, Marcella Knapp and Alejandro Lilley of Schuyler, and Michael Knapp, Jr. and wife Trista of Utica, his "Girlies Club", McKenna Knapp, Alexis Jacobs, Ryleigh Knapp, Amber Jacobs, Danica Knapp, Brennan Knapp and Sophia Knapp, his brother, Thomas Knapp and wife Susan Knapp, Whitesboro, his sister, Sandra Roberts and husband Douglas, FL, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Donald and Marilyn Schaaf, NY Mills, and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends. Michael was predeceased by his brother, Richard Knapp. Mr. Knapp's funeral will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 10:00 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica and at 11:00 from Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Utica. Burial will be in the West Schuyler Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday from 4-8. The Schuyler Volunteer Fire Department will have a service at the funeral home Friday evening at 8:00. Those so wishing may make donations to the Schuyler Fire Department in Michael's memory. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Asfar Khan, Dr. Kevin McCormick, St. Elizabeth ICU and hospitalists, Masonic Care Dialysis and the Schuyler Ambulance for all the loving care and compassion given to Michael.
