Obituary of Roselyn M. Moran

Roselyn M. Moran, 92, a resident of the Lutheran Homes, Clinton, formerly of West Utica, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2011 at the home with her family by her side. Roselyn was born in Utica on March 13, 1919, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Burns) Reece. She was raised and educated locally. On October 31, 1936, Roselyn married Francis Moran in Utica, sharing a union of over 50 years, until his passing in 1988. She was employed with General Electric Company in Utica, until her retirement in 1980, due to her health. Roselyn was a member of St. Joseph & St. Patrick's Church, Utica. In her younger years, before being disabled in 1980 due to a stroke, Roselyn was an avid league bowler. She enjoyed traveling, going to New York City to shop and enjoy Broadway Theater, and especially to travel to visit family all over the country. Roselyn enjoyed crocheting and knitting and even belonged to a weekly arts and crafts group with family and friends. She was an extremely good cook and enjoyed making dinner for family, friends and whoever may stop by. Roselyn is survived by her daughter, Mary Benson, Turnersville, NJ; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Thomas and Francine Moran, Constantia, NY, Patrick Moran, Sauquoit; a sister, Maureen Keller, New Hartford; two nephews, Tim Reece, Clinton, Mark Reece, Vernon Center. She is also survived by eleven cherished grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. Roselyn is predeceased by two brothers, Joseph Reece and James Reece; and a son-in-law, Leonard Benson. Mrs. Moran's funeral will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph & St. Patrick's Church, Utica where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Utica. Relatives and friends may call at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica, Wednesday evening, from 4 - 7 pm. Those wishing may donate to the Mother Marianne West Side Soup Kitchen, 702 Columbia St., Utica, NY 13502 in Roselyn's memory. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Lutheran Care for the care and compassion shown to both Roselyn and her family during her stay.
