I don't know the family but as a member of The American Legion family I am sorry for you loss. I write because a few years back I came across some old papers, and in looking back I only wish I had tried to do this before now, but I have what I think are Roberts transport orders from when he enlisted in the USMC. His name is listed along with 12 others and is dated 20 February, 1948. The orders are signed by Peter H. Hahn, Major, USMC. Major Hahn retired fro the USMC as a Col. I write because of the historical point of this bit of potential family history that one of his children might wish to have. I know if I could have anything from my own father I'd want it. If this gets into the hands of a family member and they want more information just contact me at the email I have listed. I have a total of 4 copies of these orders, copies from 1948, not made on a modern machine and each are signed by hand. I am going to attempt to locate these men or their families and see if anyone is interested but I haven't thought out what to do as far as the original copies will go. Clearly if more than 4 wants it someone is going to get current copies. So if someone has interest, write and we can then make sure I have the right person to begin with. On the orders is either a recruit number or the service number itself, location as far as where the train starts and ends and such. This information can be shared later for verification purposes.
