Obituary of Wanda H. LaSota

Mrs. Wanda H. LaSota, 91, of Utica, passed away Tuesday September 20, 2011 at the St. Luke's Home in New Hartford with her loving daughter by her side. Wanda was born in Middleville, NY on July 25, 1920 the daughter of Walter and Aniela (Dorosz) Duda. She was raised locally and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. In September 1940, Wanda married Matthew A. LaSota at Holy Trinity Church in Utica, a devoted union of 45 years until Matthews death in 1985. Wanda was employed with Willowvale Bleechery, later with Utica Cutlery Company and for 30 years with General Electric Company in Utica. She was a member of the West Side Senior Center, Jon Robak Post # 8, PLAV and a lifelong parishioner of Holy Trinity Church in Utica. In her younger years, she enjoyed attending Clinton Comets hockey games and more recently enjoyed bowling, polka music, polka festivals, watching NY Yankee baseball and especially playing bingo with her daughter, Eleanor. Mrs. LaSota is survived by her beloved daughter, Eleanor Derby with whom she lived; four grandchildren, Richard Stoddard of Utica, Matthew LaSota of AZ, Lori D'Adomo and her husband Victor of KY and Theresa Heiser and her husband Arnold of AZ; four great grandchildren, Shannon Marshall and her husband Jason; Juliana D'Adomo, Joseph D'adomo, and Joseph Heiser; two great great grandsons, Tyler and Blake Marshall and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, William LaSota, 2 grandsons, Mark Stoddard and Michael Stoddard, son-in-law, Wayne Derby, sister, Rose Duda and brother and sister-in-law, William and Evelyn Duda; Mrs. LaSota's funeral will be held on Friday September 23, 2011 at 10:15 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and 11:00 at Holy Trinity Church where her mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Yorkville. Calling hours for family and friends are Thursday (today) from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Mrs. LaSota's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the St. Luke's Home, Clark North for the wonderful care and compassion they provided to Wanda.
