Mahon "Micky" East Jr., 50, of Utica, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 7, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center due to injuries sustained from a motorcycle accident with his loving family by his side. Mahon was born June 4, 1961, in New Hartford, the son of Mahon Sr. and Gwendolyn (Woods) East. He was raised and educated in Utica. On January 12, 1991, Mahon married Roxanne Kent. Roxanne passed away in 2008. Mahon was employed with Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center, in Utica campus, for the past 26 years. Micky enjoyed riding his motorcycle and his snowmobile with his friends. He was so proud of his backyard with the beautiful flowers and the veggie garden. Mahon was also a big Buffalo Bills fan. Mahon leaves to mourn his passing his two wonderful children, Tanisha East and Mahon East III (and his companion, Darcy Burnham), both of Utica; his grandson and the apple of his eye, Mahon East IV; his parents, Mahon Sr. and Gwendolyn East of North Utica; mother-in-law, Norma Leonard of Utica; four sisters and their spouses, Pamela and Dr. Ray Allen of Absecon, NJ, Beverly and Gerald McGraw of Philadelphia, PA, Marion and Tommie Barnes of Clinton, MD, Sauntie and Alrick Fuller of Niceville, FL; one brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Regina Leonard of Utica; a sister and brother-in-law, Jackie and Ali Al-Jayaski of Las Vegas, NV; two special aunts, Miss Mercedes and Jahnetta Woods of Princeton, NJ as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. East's funeral service will be held Saturday evening at 8 pm at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Road, N. Utica. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 4 - 8 pm, prior to the service. Those wishing may make donations to Mahon's family to help with current expenses. The family would like send their heartfelt thanks to the UPD and the EMT personnel as well as the doctors and nurses at St. Elizabeth Medical Center for all the loving care given to Mahon.
