Mrs. Josephine (Judgie) Spring, 82, of N. Utica passed away on Friday August 5, 2011 in the comfort of her daughters home with her loving family by her side. Josephine was born in Rome on October 4, 1928 the daughter of Rosario and Josephine (Alou) Carletta and received her education in Rome schools. On July 11, 1953, Josephine married Francis P. Spring at St. John The Baptist Church in Rome, a blessed union of 57 years until Francis' death in October 2010. For 35 years, Josephine was employed with the Yahnundasis Golf and Country Club in New Hartford until her retirement. She later worked as a teacher's assistant with Seymour School and John F. Kennedy School. She was an avid bowler and golfer and attended St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church in Utica. Mrs. Spring is survived by her loving and devoted daughter and son-in-law, Donna Jo and Robert Oderkirk of N. Utica; two cherished grandchildren, Jessica Dunn and Kevin Dunn both of N. Utica; two sisters, Nina Pettinelli and Grace Madonia both of Rome; one brother Angelo Carletta of Westmoreland and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 7 brothers and 3 sisters. In keeping with Josephine's wishes there are no calling hours. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mrs. Spring's funeral Mass of Christian burial on Tuesday August 9, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church in Utica. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Yorkville.
