Nellie D. Morris, 89, a resident of the the Martin Luther Home, Clinton, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2011, at the home. Nellie was born October 13, 1921 in Utica, the daughter of Ernest and Florence (Eddy) Daviau. She was raised and educated locally. Nellie had worked for General Electric in Utica and as a crossing guard for the City of Utica and also was an LPN for Visiting Nurses. On January 16, 1944, Nellie married Joseph C. Morris, at St. Paul's Church in Whitesboro. Mr. Morris passed away in 1990. She was a member of St. Joseph & St. Patrick's Church in Utica. Nellie was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Adrean Post 675. Mrs. Morris is survived by two sons, David Morris and Anita Vitullo, Clinton, Ernest Morris, Florida; four grandchildren and their spouses, Renee DeAngelo and her family, Rome, Sabrina and Rocco Femia, Clinton, Mikael Morris, Florida, and Brad Morris, Florida. Also surviving are great grandchildren Trae Morris, Florida, and Vincenza, Rocco III and Antonio Femia, Clinton; one sister Dorothy Johnston, Whitesboro. Mrs. Morris' funeral will be held Monday, July 25, 2011 at 9:00 am at St. Joseph & St. Patrick's Church, Utica where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Whitestown. There are no calling hours. Those wishing may donate to the Adrean Post # 675 Ladies Auxiliary in Nellie's memory.
