Mrs. Susan Ann Topa, 66, of Utica, passed away Sunday May 1, 2011 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare in New Hartford. Susan was born in Utica on August 6, 1944 the daughter of Joseph, Jr. and Ruth (Linck) Sullivan. She was raised in Utica and was a graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School. On December 29, 1965, Susan married John J. Topa at Holy Trinity Church in Utica. Susan was employed with Mele Manufacturing, later with Utica College and most recently with T.J. Maxx. She was a parishioner of the former St. George's Church in Utica and currently St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church in Utica. Susan enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and arts and crafts. Mrs. Topa is survived by her beloved husband John; her daughter, Ann Marie Topa of Utica; son, Joseph Topa, Sr., of Utica; two cherished grandchildren, Joseph Topa, Jr. and Jenna Renee Topa and several nieces, nephews and in-laws. She was predeceased by an infant daughter, and her sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Richard Muldoon. Mrs. Topa's funeral will be held on Wednesday May 4, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church where her mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Calling hours for family and friends are Wednesday morning, 9:30-10:30 at the Heintz Funeral Home 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica, prior to the funeral mass.
