Obituary of William C. Phillips

William (Bill) Phillips 81, of Ives Lane, Clinton passed away peacefully on March 30,2011 at the Siegenthaler Center. Bill was born in Clinton on March 27,1930, the son of Hugh and Mary (Roberts) Phillips. He was a graduate of Clinton Central School and later of MVCC. He was a veteran of the United States Army. At St. Mary's Church, Clinton on February 13, 1960, Bill was married to Ellen Keith. Bill was retired from L. K. Distributors, in Utica. He was later employed at Hamilton College in the Security Dept.. Bill was a member of St. Mary's Church, and the Clinton VFW Post 9591. Bill enjoyed traveling with his wife, Ellen, spending time with his family , and watching Yankee Baseball and Notre Dame Sports. He will be missed by his friends at Alteri's, Michael T's and Nola's Cafe'. Bill is survived by his wife; Ellen, his daughter and son-in-law Sheila and LCDR Joseph Palumbo, of Arlington, VA, his son and daughter-in-law Terry and Suzie Phillips of Clinton, his beloved grandchildren; Jackson and Sadie Phillips, a sister; Pauline Converse of NJ, 2 brothers and a sister -in-law Hugh and Helen Phillips of N. Utica and Alfred Phillips of Clinton and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves his in-laws Emily Phillips, Sheila Phelan and William and Jeanne Keith. Bill was predeceased by a sister Kathleen Phillips, a brother Joseph Phillips and his in law; Virginia Phillips, Terence Keith and William Phelan. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the Siegenthaler Center for all their care and kindness during Bill's stay. Mr. Phillips Funeral will be held on Saturday, April 2,2011 at 10:00 AM, at St. Mary's Church where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. His burial will be in St. Mary's Parish Cemetery. Calling hours at the Heintz Funeral Home, 10 E. Park Row, Clinton will be Friday (today) from 4 to 7 pm. Donation in Bill's memory would be appreciated to the Siegenthaler Center or St. Mary's Church Fund.
