Obituary of Irene D. Loran

Irene D. Loran, 96, a resident at the Presbyterian Residential Community, and formerly of Yorkville passed away March 19, 2011. Irene was born in Hartford, Connecticut on October 29, 1914 the daughter of Henry and Delvena (Garrand) Hall. She was raised in Utica and was a graduate of St. Agnes School. In September of 1936, Irene was married to Osgood F. Loran, a union of over 50 years, until his passing in 1990. Irene spent her life as a homemaker and devoted wife and mother. Her most treasured times were spent with her family, especially her great granddaughters; Emily, Amanda and Natalie. She was a woman of great determination and strength, she dealt with life's adversities with courage and sensitivety. Irene was a soft spoken lady who enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and listening to her music. She was a former member of Sacred Heart Church, Utica, and the Country Club Courts Senior Citizens. She also worked for the Board of Elections for over 18 years. Irene is survived by 4 daughters and 2 sons in-law; Patricia and Stanford Yerger of Floyd, Sylvia Tryon of Ontario,NY, Judith and Frank Caporale of FL., and Dorothy Loran of FL., 5 sons and daughters in-law; Robert and Marie Loran of Central Square, NY, Roger and Joanne Loran of Utica, Richard and Colleen Loran of GA., Paul and Patricia Loran of Brewerton, NY , and Kenneth Loran of Ontario, NY. She also leaves 17 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Irene was also pre-deceased by her5 sisters; Virginia Hall, Peg Porto, Alice Henderson Leona Hall Morency, Delvina(Isabella) Hopkins and 1 Son In-law; George Tryon. The family offers its sincere appreciation to Dr. Charles Eldredge and his staff, and to all the care-givers at the Presbyterian Residential Community and Presbyterian Home for all dedicated care and compassion to Irene throughout the years. Mrs. Loran's funeral will be held Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at St Leo's Church, Holland Patent at 10:00 A.M. where her mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Her entombment will be in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum, Whitestown, NY. Calling hours at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica will be held Monday, March 21, 2011 from 4 till 6 PM.
