Robert "Rudy" T. Ruda, 61, of Glass Factory Rd., Marcy, passed away unexpectedly on February 19, 2011. Bob was born in Buffalo, NY, on March 22, 1949, the son of Norbert and Mary (Mekarski) Ruda. He was raised and educated in the Buffalo School System. On October 19, 1968, in Buffalo, Rudy was married to Sharon A. Gielski. Known as "Rudy" by his friends, he and Sharon moved to Marcy, NY, where he became employed as a high voltage lineman with the New York Power Authority. He later attained the position of transmission planner with over 30 years of service. Rudy had a strong work ethic, enjoying the sunny outdoors in his yard and working on his home. He was of the Catholic faith. Rudy is survived by his wife, Sharon; his parents, Norbert and Mary Ruda, of Buffalo; a daughter, Carrie Ruda, of E. Syracuse; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Holly Ruda, of Endicott; and two cherished granddaughters, Samantha and Paige. He also leaves two sisters, two brothers; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service for Mr. Ruda will be held Friday, February 25, 2011, at 5:30 PM at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica, with the Rev. Paul Drobin officiating. His burial will be at the convenience of his family. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 3:00 until 6:00 PM, Friday evening. In appreciation to St. Elizabeth Medical Center staff, Rudy's family would like any donation, in lieu of flowers, to be made to the ICU at the center.
