Nellie C. Pikul, 93, of New York Mills passed away on Wednesday February 9, 2011 at the St. Luke's Home with her family by her side. Nellie was born in New York Mills on February 19, 1917, a daughter of John and Catherine (Kurgan) Pikul. She started her working career at AD Juilliard and later worked for 21 years with the General Electric Co., Utica, retiring in 1977. In her younger years, she was a proud member of the Filharmonica Choir and Nellie loved to travel. Nellie was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Church in New York Mills. Nellie is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence and Grace Pikul, Rochester and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins, especially acknowledging two special nieces, Roxann Heintz and Melanie Alexander, who looked after "Cioci" through the years. Nellie was predeceased by three sisters, Stella Wozniak, Bertha Fanelli and Mary Alexander and four brothers, Michael Pikul, Paul Pikul, Walter Pikul and Joseph Pikul. Miss Pikul's funeral will be held on Monday, February 14, 2011 at 9:45 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro Street, Utica and at 10:30 at Church of the Sacred Heart and Saint Mary Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, NY. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in St. Stanislaus and Casimir Cemetery, Whitesboro. Calling hours at the funeral home are Sunday from 2 - 4.
