Janice G. Niermeyer, 92, of the Presbyterian Home passed away on Thursday January 13, 2011. Janice was born in Boonville, NY on September 20, 1918 the daughter of Byron and Lillian (Ruth) Grathwohl. For many years until her retirement she was employed with the General Electric Co. in Utica. Janice was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Utica, Eastern Star Augusta-Grace Chapter and a former member of the Circle C of the church, the Daily Bread at the church, and the Tramp and Trail Club. Janice loved doing crossword puzzles and reading. At one time she taught reading with the literacy program in the Utica area. Janice is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Arthur Hughes of New Hartford, and a step daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Allen Jenkins and their family of Whitesboro. Janice was predeceased by a step son Fred Niermeyer in 2007. Mrs. Niemeyer's funeral will be held on Monday January 17, 2011 at 10:15 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and at 11:00 from Westminster Presbyterian Church, Utica. A spring burial will take place in the Boonville Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Sunday from 2-4. The family would like to thank the staff of the Willow Wing of the Presbyterian Home for all the loving care given to Janice.
