Thomas C. Halpin, 51, of Massapequa, NY formerly of Utica passed away on Sunday January 9, 2011. Tom was born in Utica on August 6, 1959 the son of William J. and Mary Anne (Gaffney) Halpin Sr. He was raised and educated in the Utica School system. For many years Tom was employed as a custodian at the State Office Building in Utica. Tom enjoyed spending time with his family . He loved dancing, music (especially Elvis), TV Land and cheeseburgers. He has resided for the last seven years with his beloved sister Denise and her husband Dean and their children on Long Island. Tom is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Mark and Liz Halpin, New Hartford, and Bill and Sandy Halpin, New Hartford, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Therese and Craig Becker, New Hartford and Denise and Dean Hartman, Long Island. He is also survived by nieces and nephews Clare and Dennis Halpin, Katie, Laura and Tim Becker, Megan, Thomas, Kevin and Robert Hartman and Liam and Aidan Halpin. Mr. Halpin's funeral will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at 10:00 at St. John The Evangelist Church, New Hartford. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers those so wishing may make donations to a charity of their choice. The family would like to thank our friends and our South Utica neighbors for all their love and support of Tom through the years and to Dr. Joseph Booth of Utica and Dr. Jeffrey Elfenbien of Long Island for all the loving care they gave to Tom.
