Elizabeth (Betty) E. LaMore, 92, of the Masonic Care Community passed away on Saturday November 20, 2010, with her loving daughter Christine at her side. Betty was born in Utica on December 15, 1917, a daughter of Walter and Julia (Agen) Jones. She was a graduate of St. Francis deSales High School. At St. Francis deSales Church on June 15, 1940, Betty was united in marriage to Frederick LaMore. Mr. LaMore passed away on September 15, 1973. Betty began her working career at Abelove's Laundry in Utica and later was employed with Utica State Hospital and St. Joseph's Nursing Home. She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church until its closing and then St. Paul's Church, Whitesboro. She was a former member of the Mothers Club at Sacred Heart , the St. Anne's Card Club and the Book Club. Betty will be remembered for her great sense of humor and her contagious smile. She derived great joy in cooking and shopping and especially enjoyed playing cards with friends and family. Betty is survived by her three children: Carol and Duane Butts, Sandown, NH, Rick and Loretta LaMore, St Petersburg, FL, and Christine and Jack Meyers, Schuyler, nine grandchildren and their spouses: Michele and Jeff Pray, Christian and Charlene Butts, Jason and Ingrid Butts, Justin and Amanda LaMore, Amy and Rick Gruszewski, Sarah LaMore, Danielle LaMore, Brandon and Lindsay Meyers and Bryce Meyers, eleven great grandchildren: Carissa, Callie and Carson Pray, Sarah, Matthew and Julianne Butts, Tyler and Zoe LaMore, Anya and Isaac Gruszewski, and Maisie Meyers, a sister, Mary Burton, New Hartford, two sisters-in-law, Alice LaMore, FL and Gloria LaMore, Utica and a special friend, Antonio Orlando, Rochester, NY. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Betty was predeceased by a brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Helen Jones, and three brothers-in-law: Donald and William LaMore and William Burton. Mrs. LaMore's funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at 10:30 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd. ,N. Utica and at 11:00 from St. Mark's Church, N. Utica. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro. Calling hours at the funeral home are Wednesday morning 8:30 - 10:30. Those so wishing may make donations to the American Cancer Society in honor of family members who are cancer survivors. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Westchester Neighborhood of the Masonic Care Community for all the loving care they gave to "Queen Elizabeth".
