Mary Ann Durfey, 77, of North Utica passed away at home unexpectedly on Monday, November 8, 2010. Mary Ann was born in Utica on March 9, 1933 a daughter of the late Victor and Stephania (Wojdyla) Palczynski. She was a graduate of Utica Catholic Academy. At Holy Trinity Church, Utica on May 3, 1965 Mary Ann was united in marriage to Alan A. Durfey. She was currently employed at Jefferson Elementary School in Utica and has been employed with the Utica School System for the past 30 years. She was a parishioner of St. Peter's Church, North Utica. The greatest joy in Mary Ann's life was the time she spent with her grandchildren Dominick, Stephanie, Anna, Ava, Thomas, Trad and Ryan. Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Alan, a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and David Salerno, North Utica, three sons and two daughters-in-law, David and Kim Durfey, Syracuse, Michael Durfey, RI and Daniel and Nicole Durfey, RI, seven grandchildren, a sister and brother-in-law, Jacqueline and Fran Morgan, LI, a brother and sister-in-law, Jude and Sunny Palczynski, Boonville and many nieces, nephews and special friends. Mary Ann was predeceased by her brother, Rev. Theodore (Thomas) Palczynski. Mrs. Durfey's funeral will be held on Friday, November 12, 2010 at 8:45 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., North Utica and at 9:30 from St. Peter's Church, North Utica. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday from 4-7. In lieu of flowers those so wishing may make donations to the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society in Mary Ann's memory.
