Patricia A. Strife, 68, of North Utica, passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2018, at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center with her loving family at her side. Patricia was born in Utica on January 6, 1950, a daughter of Bernard and Ruth (Cookingham) Sokolowski. She was raised in North Utica and attended St. Peter’s Grade School and John F. Kennedy High School. On August 7, 1971 Patricia was united in marriage to Michael Dale Strife at St. Peter’s Church. For over twenty years she was employed with the Utica City School District working at Jefferson and J.F.K. Patricia was loved and respected by her coworkers and students at JFK and known for her compassion for her students. Her enjoyment in life came simply from her family. She adored her husband, her children and her grandchildren and needed nothing more. She was an avid sports fan and certainly her children’s and grandchildren’s biggest fan. You’d know when Mrs. Strife/Grandma Patty was present at a game and so would everyone else in attendance. She will be remembered for her feisty, quick-witted, friendly personality and her strength. She was certainly a strong woman whose strength was clearly evident as she battled cancer over the past five years. Patricia is survived by her husband, Dale, her children, Michele Enos and husband, Eric, of Oriskany, Stephen Strife and wife, Elizabeth, of Deerfield and Kevin Strife and wife, Nicole, of Marcy, eight grandchildren, Ryan and Matthew Enos, Sydney, Olivia, Mallory, Cameron, Kaden and Caleb Strife, three brothers, Thomas Sokolowski and wife, Joan Marie, of N. Utica, Frederick Sokolowski and wife, Linda, of N. Utica and Edward Sokolowski, of N. Utica, in-laws, Paul and Jacquelyn Strife, of Marcy, Kathleen and Jack Beckett, of NC and Anne and Thomas Nelson, of Utica, nieces and nephews, Mark and Tammie Sokolowski, Matthew and Shelly Sokolowski, Jeffrey and Lisa Sokolowski, Jodi and Gary Heenan, Rose and Aaron Cidzik, Ruth and Anthony Mittiga, Rachael Sokolowski and Jeff Weiskopf, Mary Sokolowski, Jeremy and Stephanie Beckett, Adam and Donna Beckett, Bethany Beckett and Christine Brooks, Erin and Wes Dyer, Craig Nelson and Alicia and Christopher Cieloszczyk and a host of great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Ruth and Bernard Sokolowski, in-laws, Helen and Gerald Strife , brother- in-law, John C. Strife and an infant sister, Margaret Sokolowski Mrs. Strife’s funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at 11:00 from St. Peter’s Church, North Utica. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro. Calling hours at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica are Tuesday from 4-7. Those so wishing may make donations to the Siegenthaler Center in Patricia’s memory.
