David S. Langenegger, 80, of the Mohawk Valley Nursing formerly of Schuyler passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center. David was born in Utica on February 18, 1930 the son of the late Ernest and Gertrude (Ludden) Langenegger. He was a graduate of Whitesboro High School. David served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. On September 1, 1956 at Trinity Episcopal Church David was united in marriage to Jean Melvin a blessed union of 46 years until her passing away in 2002. For many years until his retirement David was employed with the Commercial Travelers Insurance Co. Prior to this he was employed throughout his working career with Mohawk Trails Bus Co., the Observer Dispatch and Durr Packing Co. He was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church, Utica, American Legion Post #229, and the West Schuyler Seniors. David is survived by his two daughters and a son-in-law; Leslie Langenegger, Utica, Cheryl and Ron Thompson, Frankfort, his granddaughter, Ashley Thompson, Frankfort, his brother and sister-in-law; Charles and Nancy Langenegger, New Hartford and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Joan L. Phillips and Grace M. Langenegger a brother, John E. Langenegger and a nephew, Timothy L. Langenegger. A memorial service for Mr. Langenegger will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 11:00 at All Saints Episcopal Church, Utica. A private burial took place at West Schuyler Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Those so wishing may make donations to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Heart Association in David's memory. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of the 4th floor of St. Elizabeth's Medical Center for all the loving care given to David.
