Miss Yvonne M. Spaargaren, 52 of Utica passed away unexpectedly on Friday September 24, 2010 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare in New Hartford. Yvonne was born in Lafayette, Indiana on February 1, 1958 the daughter of Jan and Alida (Boiten) Spaargaren. She was raised in Indiana and graduated high school in Cleveland. She furthered her education, earning her Bachelor's degree from Ohio State University. In her younger years, Yvonne was a marathon runner. She enjoyed music, was a talented pianist and gifted artist. She also had a fond love for dogs. Miss Spaargaren is survived by her parents, Jan and Alida Spaargaren of Long, Island, NY; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Rob and Audrey Spaargaren of Granger, IN and John and Nicole Spaargaren of Old Saybrook, CT; her loving companion, Weston Smith of Utica; nieces and nephews, Natalie, Michael, Eric, Anya, Dan Nick and Drew; dear friend, Janine DeSimone of Poland, NY and many aunts, uncles and cousins in California and the Netherlands. Miss Spaargaren's funeral will be held on Monday September 27, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Miss Spaargaren's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the ICU at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare for the wonderful care you provided to Yvonne.
