CORRECTION TIME CHANGE Casimira Cassie Elizabeth Piejko passed away at home in Marcy, NY, surrounded by her loving family, on August 18, 2010, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Casimira, born on July 8, 1935, was the daughter of Mieczyslaw and Sophia Domin. She was born in Rosenberg (now Olesno), Poland, Europe. Cassie was educated at a university in Poland, earning a degree in Fine Art. In August of 1957, she married Anatol Piejko in the Catholic Cathedral in Przemysl, Poland, and was an active member of Holy Trinity Church in Utica. In 1960, she and Anatol moved to the United States with their son, Alex. Cassie was proud of her US citizenship. She was extremely gifted in a number of talents. Her favorite hobbies were gardening and oil painting, among other numerous crafts. She could do anything she put her mind to! Cassie is survived by her two sons and their wives, Alex and Beth, of Marcy, NY, and Art and Kyleen, of Austin, TX, and her six grandchildren, Joshua, Thomas, Sarah, Michael, Rachel and William. She also leaves her mother-in-law, Helen Piejko, and brother-in-law, Francis Piejko, both of Utica, NY. Her husband, Anatol, predeceased her in September 1981. The family wants to thank Dr. Samir Desai, Windy Mitchell and the entire staff of the Faxton-St. Lukes Regional Cancer Center, as well as the staff of Hospice and Palliative Care. A special thank you to Julie, Jan, Justin, Bonnie, Ashley and Irene. You are all angels! Mrs. Piejko's funeral will be held Saturday, August 21, 2010, at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, New Hartford, at 9:00 a.m., where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Her family will greet visitors following the Mass. Her burial will take place in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Whitestown. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are entrusted to the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 4277 Middle Settlement Rd., New Hartford, NY 13413. Envelopes will be available.
