Mrs. Margaret L. S. King Hines, 89, a resident of the Sitrin Health Care Center in New Hartford, formerly of Utica passed away on Friday July 23, 2010 at the nursing home. Margaret was born January 26, 1921 in Glasgow, Scotland the daughter of James and Elizabeth (Smith) King. She came to the United States as a young girl, was a graduate of New Hartford High School and attended Utica School of Commerce. Margaret was married to Ulysses Hines at St. Francis de Sales church in Utica a devoted union until Ulysses' death in 1961. Mrs. Hines worked for many years as a legal secretary for Mr. Leonard Ferris and later with Utica Fire Insurance Company until her retirement. She was a parishioner of the former St. Francis de Sales Church in Utica. In her younger years she enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Mrs. Hines is survived by her brother, John H. King; a niece, Janet Hanna and her husband Mark and their sons, Mark and Ryan and a dear friend, George Stewart. She was predeceased by her parents, husband and a sister-in-law, Pat King. Mrs. Hines' funeral will be held on Monday July 26, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. Interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery in Utica. The family would like to thank the staff at the Sitrin Health Care Center for the excellent care they gave to Margaret for the past 24 years.
