Mrs. Cadet (Alice) Moriarty, 86, a resident of the Eastern Star Nursing Home, Oriskany, formerly of New Hartford and Clinton, passed away Thursday, July 8, 2010 at St. Luke's Healthcare Center, New Hartford. Alice was born in Clinton, NY on May 21, 1924, the daughter of George and Martha (Bond) Burns. She was raised and educated locally, graduating from Clinton High School in 1943. On December 6, 1947, Alice married Cadet Moriarty in St. Mary's Church in Clinton. She worked for Rome Air Force Base from 1943 - 1948. In 1958, Alice began working at the Alpha Delta Phi house at Hamilton College, where she was employed for over 26 years until her retirement in 1984. She was a member of St. Mary's Church in Clinton and of the Helmuth - Ingalls American Legion Post 232 Ladies Auxiliary in Franklin Springs. Alice is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James and Heidi Moriarty, Marlboro, MA; a special grandson, Chris Moriarty, Marlboro, MA; an aunt, Evie Barber, Ilion; a sister-in-law, Ann Moriarty, Oriskany; grandchildren, Douglas and Jennifer Moriarty, Tennesee; also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and cousins, including Bill and Leta Burns, New Hartford. Alice is predeceased by her husband, Cadet R. in January of this year and by her son Cadet D. in October of 2002. Mrs. Moriarty's funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Church, where her Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Heintz Funeral Home, 10 East Park Row, Clinton, Monday evening from 5 - 7 pm. Those wishing may donate to the Alzheimer's Association in Alice's memory.
