Marilyn A. Wood, 82, of Fountain Street, Clinton, passed away Sunday, June 27, 2010 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica with her family by her side. Marilyn was born June 15, 1928 in Utica, the daughter of Edwin and Irene (McLaughlin) Tibbitts. She was raised and educated in New Hartford. On August 31, 1947, Marilyn married Wesley "Woody" Wood at the Stone Presbyterian Church in Clinton. Mr. Wood passed away in 1997. She was a housewife and caregiver to her family. Marilyn was a member and Deacon at the Stone Presbyterian Church; a volunteer at the Lutheran Homes in Clinton; a member of the Alpine Square Dancers, with whom she traveled the country; and a sports enthusiast, including the NY Yankees and the Buffalo Bills and Sabres, and especially her grandchildren's sporting events. Marilyn is survived by three daughters, Cathy Malecki of Hamilton, NY, Deborah A. Wood and George Mair of Clinton, Diane and Bill Brady of Clinton; a son, Richard Wood of Clinton; three grandchildren, Stephen Malecki, Matthew and Sean Brady; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley and Ralph Pye of Maryland, NY, Nancy and Howard Burns of New Hartford; two sisters in law, Eleanor Tibbitts of New Hartford, Shelly and David Whiting of Clinton. Besides her husband and parents, she is predeceased by a sister, Elaine Dulan and a brother, Charles Tibbitts. A Memorial Service for Mrs. Wood will be held on a date and time to be announced at the Stone Presbyterian Church, Clinton with Rev. Dennis Dewey officiating. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family. In keeping with Marilyn's wishes, there are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may donate to the Stone Presbyterian Church in Marilyn's memory.
