Margaret Mary (Marley) Jones, 84, a resident of the Woodgate neighborhood of the Masonic Care Community, formerly of Prospect, NY, passed away Saturday, May 8, 2010 at the home with her family by her side. Peggy was born in Utica on July 15, 1925, the daughter of Thomas and Catherine (Schumaker) Cox. She was raised and educated locally. She was employed with Steffen Publishing, where she enjoyed her time very much. On May 29, 1948, Peggy married Robert Marley. Mr. Marley passed away in 1955. On June 13, 1959, Peggy married William P. Jones, with whom she shared a union of fifty years. She had many hobbies and enjoyments, some being reading, writing poems, watching the hummingbirds, and sitting on her front porch during thunder and lightning storms. She treasured the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Of the Catholic faith, Peggy was a member of St. Anne's Church in Hinckley, prior to its closing. Peggy is survived by her beloved husband, William "Bill" Jones, Prospect, NY; four children and their spouses, Keith and Lynn Marley, Hillsborough, NJ, Sherry and Thomas Wheat, Ithaca, NY, Kathleen and Keith Fonda, New Hartford, NY, Thomas Jones and Susan Andre, Prospect, NY; seven cherished grandchildren, Brianna and Joe Badalamenti, NJ, Dustin Clendenin, Newport, NY, Rob Marley, Hillsborough, NJ, Casey Clendenin, Prospect, NY, Hope Fonda, New Hartford, NY, Tyler Clendenin, Prospect, NY, Patrick Fonda, New Hartford, NY. She is predeceased by three sisters, Patricia Cox, Frances Cox, and Roberta Cox. A Memorial Mass for Mrs. Jones will be held on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at 12:00 noon at St. John the Evangelist Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment in Prospect Cemetery will take place at the convenience of the family. Peggy's family will greet visitors at the end of the Memorial Mass. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may donate to the Woodgate Neighborhood of the Masonic Care Community, 2150 Bleecker St., Utica, NY 13501. Arrangements are entrusted to the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. The family would like to extend their thanks and heartfelt appreciation to the nurses and staff of the Masonic Care Community, especially the Woodgate Neighborhood for the care and compassion shown to both Peggy and her family during her stay.
