Mrs. Jean L. Bowen, 77 of Trenton NY passed away on Tuesday April 27, 2010 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare in New Hartford with her loving family by her side. Jean was born in Utica on February 13, 1933 the daughter of James and Ruth (Bates) Gilbraith and received her education in Utica Schools. On February 20, 1971 Jean married Erwin E. Bowen in Marcy, NY. For 20 years, she was employed with General Electric Company and later with Sturges Manufacturing Company until her retirement. Jean was an avid fisherman and enjoyed camping, knitting, crocheting and feeding the birds. She was of the Protestant faith. Mrs. Bowen will be sadly missed by her husband Erwin who has lost a wonderful wife and fishing partner; her son, Richard Kerwin and Bonnie; Richard's daughter Tracy (Carmine) Perrotta and his 4 grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Sandy and Ted Siedsma; a brother, Edwin Crandall; a sister-in-law and two brothers-in-law, Kathleen Genter and her husband Edward, David Bowen and his wife Gail and Richard Bowen and his wife Candy and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents James and Ruth, a brother Willard Gilbraith and her beloved feline companion, Tiggy. Mrs. Bowen's funeral will be held on Friday April 30, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. Interment will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery in Utica. Calling hours for family and friends are Friday morning from 9:00-11:00 prior to the service. Mrs. Bowen's family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare for the loving care and compassion given to Jean.
