Obituary of Adeline W. Sanger

Mrs. Adeline W. Sanger 82 of Clinton passed away peacefully on Sunday April 25, 2010 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare in New Hartford after a prolonged battle with emphysema. Adeline was born June 19, 1927 in Ellisburg, NY the youngest of five children of Allen and Charlotte (Brown) Williams. She grew up in Remsen, NY where her family settled when she was a very young girl. She attended local schools and remained in Remsen until she married the love of her life, Arliss James Sanger on August 17, 1946. She was a devoted wife and loving mother of three children. Adeline was a prize winning artist and ceramicist and her works were displayed at judged shows and museums around central New York. Before having her own family, she worked with children at St. Joseph's orphanage and later after her children were grown, as a teacher in pre schools in the Utica area until retirement. Adeline enjoyed frequent trips to Cape Cod and the northeast coast where she would enjoy chatting with the local antique and art shop owners and artists. Mrs. Sanger is survived by her three sons, Frederick A. Sanger of Syracuse, NY, Lawrence R. Sanger of Clinton, NY and Kevin J. and wife Sandra Sanger of Whitesboro, NY, as well as her grandchildren, great grandchildren and loving and devoted nieces and nephews with whom she cherished their numerous visits and phone calls. She was predeceased by her husband Arliss in 2007; her parents Allen and Charlotte, two brothers, Lloyd and Richard Williams, two sisters, Alice W. Newman and Nora W. Williams as well as Arliss' family, Fred and Agnes Goodhines Sanger and Curtis and Kathryn Sanger. Mrs. Sanger's funeral will be held on Wednesday April 28, 2010 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of The Rosary Church in New Hartford where her mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Entombment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum in Yorkville. There are no calling hours. Please omit flowers and consider a donation to Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Adeline's memory. Mrs. Sanger's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the 4th floor at St. Luke's hospital especially her great nieces, Tina Becker and Samantha Matt for the loving care and compassion given to Adeline.
