Mrs. Genevieve (Jean) K. Gamache 87, a resident of the Heritage Health Care Center in Utica, formerly of N. Utica passed away on Wednesday April 21, 2010 at the nursing home with her loving family by her side. Genevieve was born in Utica on July 3, 1922 the daughter of Joseph and Aniela Koziol and received her education in Utica schools. On September 16, 1942 Jean married Earl E. Gamache a devoted union of 60 years until Earl's death in 2002. She was a parishioner of St. Paul's Church in Whitesboro and an active member of American Legion Utica Post 229 ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Gamache is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Celeste and Mike Pytko of N. Utica; one son and two daughter's-in-law, Thomas and Marguerite Gamache of Perryville, MD and Kathleen Gamache of Lakeland, FL; three grandchildren, Mary Lourdes Laramee and her husband Andrew of Chittenango, NY, Mike Pytko and his wife Lauri of Louisville, KY and Elizabeth Walker of Fl.; two sisters, Olga Ciecko and Phyllis Koziol both of NY Mills; three step grandchildren, Erin, Jessica and James; six great grandchildren, Carter, Tanner, Merryck, Emma, Myah and Mae and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Robert in 2005 and brothers and sisters. Mrs. Gamache's funeral be held on Saturday April 24, 2010 at 8:45 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica and 9:30 at St. Paul's Church where her Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family. Calling hours for family and friends are Friday (today) from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Mrs. Gamache's family extends a special thank you to the staff of the 6th floor at the Heritage Health Care Center for the love and compassion given to Jean.
