Anthony J. Esposito, 72, of Utica, passed away at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center after a courageous battle with cancer on April 3, 2010 with his loving family by his side. Tony was born in Utica on January 11, 1938, the son of Angelo and Mary (Ameduri) Esposito. He was raised and educated locally, graduating from Proctor High School. He then went on to serve his country with the US Army. On November 25, 1961, Tony married Patricia Collins and shared a union of 48 years. He was employed with Sturges Manufacturing in Utica. Tony was a member of St. Peter's Church in North Utica. He enjoyed playing guitar, gardening and especially spending time with his family and friends. Tony will always be remembered for his amazing sense of humor. Tony is survived by his beloved wife Patricia Esposito, Utica; a daughter and son-in-law, Judith Durso-Klockowski and Lawrence Klockowski, Whitesboro; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Gina Esposito, Deerfield, Joseph and Tracie Esposito, Homer; six cherished grandchildren, Cody Durso, Joseph Esposito, Jr., Jenna Esposito, Marco Esposito, Tressa Esposito, Reena Esposito; two sisters, Marie Turi, New York Mills, & his twin sister, Dorothy Hughes, Utica. He is also survived by his canine companions, "the boys". Mr. Esposito's funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at 9:30 am at St. Peter's Church where his Mass of Christian Burial will take place. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Utica. Relatives and friends may call at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Road, North Utica, Tuesday evening, from 4 - 7 pm. Those wishing may donate to the American Cancer Society or to the Stevens-Swan Humane Society in Tony's memory. Mr. Esposito's family extend their thanks and heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Alicia DeTraglia, and the nurses and staff of the Faxton Regional Cancer Center; to the ICU nurses of Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center; and to Kunkel Ambulance for the care and compassion given to Tony and his family during his illness.
