Obituary of George DAVID Barnard

Please share a memory of George to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On Saturday, May 12th, David went home to be with Father Jesus, while his devoted, much loved Catherine held him. On March 9th David celebrated his 65th birthday. He was proud of his Islands of Antigua and St. Croix and even after 45 years, he never adjusted to the climate here. David was a loving, forgiving, and generous man. He was known for his cooking and always made extra and found someone who needed it. For many years, David was employed as a carpenter who could build or repair anything. He worked for Cornhill Pride and was extremely proud of the part he played in the restoration of Johnson Park. David loved to eat out, take long walks and most of all, shop. He also loved singing and westerns, but most of all, he loved laughing with Catherine. David attended Holy Temple Church and was currently a member of Life Tabernacle Church in Whitesboro. David is survived by his beloved Catherine Jones and her children, Emily and Francis Roberts, Jeffrey and Becky Jones, Jered Jones and Eileen Jones and Bobby Lewis and their families whom became David’s family; David and Christine Palmer Harrison shared a loving relationship before she went home to be with Jesus 8 year ago. Survivors also include Christine’s children, Lolita Harris, Travis Palmer, Trevor Palmer, Trevon (Sam) Harrison and Tevin Harrison and their families whom David though of and raised as his own; three daughters, Kim Green and her family in Antigua, and Shamika and Tamika; his baby sister, Sandra Henry Martin who he loved and adored and helped raise; his brother, Wayne Henry, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins including a special cousin/sister, Yvette Watkins. He was predeceased by his mother, Genevieve Francis; his much-respected step-father, Sidney Henry and his aunt, Evelyn Martin who he called Auntie Mother because she was there when his mother couldn’t be. It was her prayers that saved his life numerous times and brought him back to Jesus. Catherine would like to thank those who took care of David in so many ways over the last two years, especially Dr. Cynthia Jones and her entire staff who became another family. A special Thank you Clarence, Jason and Frank who visited him regularly where ever he was. Also, a special thank you to Jessica Bowan for the care she gave to David and Catherine, Pastor Andy Traub who was always there when he was needed and friends and family who kept David in their prayers. Thank you to Jo Ann Williams, Christine Schorer and Karie de Souza for their never-ending support. Thank you Geremias de Souza for knowing what to do when David had his stroke and giving us two more years with him. Calling hours for family and friends are Sunday, May 20, 2018 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica with a celebration of his life to follow at the conclusion of the visitation. Donations would be appreciated to the van ministry at Life Tabernacle Church in David’s memory.
