Mrs. Maureen M. Wojtowycz, 77 of Utica passed away unexpectedly on Sunday March 14, 2010 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center with her loving family by her side. Maureen was born in Utica on April 23, 1932 the daughter of Robert and Vivian (Swanson) Carlson. She was raised in Whitesboro, was a graduate of Utica Catholic Academy and in 1973 received her LPN License. On August 6, 1983 Maureen married Zenon Wojtowycz. For many until her retirement, Maureen was employed as an LPN with St. Luke's Memorial Hospital in New Hartford. After retirement she continued her nursing career as a private duty nurse. Maureen was a member of the former St. Francis de Sales Church in Utica. Mrs. Wojtowycz is survived by her husband Zenon; two daughters, Cynthia Evans and Rick Williams of Cassville and Melissa Piccione of Utica; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Theresa Evans of Frankfort Hill, NY and Jon and Laura Evans of Cassville; her best friend since childhood, Susan Barry of Whitesboro; 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Deborah Evans and two sons, Robert (Bob) Evans and Richard (Ricky) Evans. Mrs. Wojtowycz's funeral will be held on Wednesday March 17, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Whitesboro. There are no public calling hours. Those wishing to make a donation in Maureen's name, please consider The American Heart Association. Arrangements have been entrusted to Heintz Funeral Service, Inc., Utica.
