Obituary of Arnold G. Mattice

Arnold "Arnie" Mattice, 70, of Utica passed away Thursday, February 18, 2010 at St. Luke's Hospital. Arnie was born in Lamson, NY on September 29, 1939 a son of the late Howard and Lena Mae (Bronson) Mattice and received his education in the Syracuse School System. Arnie proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1956 to 1959. In Utica in 1973 he married Mary Buttenschon Gage. For many years Arnie was employed with New Process Gear in Syracuse retiring in 1989. Arnie always enjoyed playing cards with his friends at the Hylander. Arnie is survived by his wife, Mary, his six children, Frank Mattice, Tina Mattice, Suzanne and David Wescott, Kimberly Mattice, Tammy Mattice and Randolph Mattice, two sisters and a brother-in-law, Martha and John Kuryla and Rosemary Kuryla a brother, Donald Mattice, and a special friend and sister-in-law, Rose Thompson. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, a great granddaughter, several nieces, nephews and his canine pal, "Trouble". Mr. Mattice's funeral with military honors will be held on Monday, February 22, 2010 at 11:00 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro, NY. Calling hours at the funeral home are Sunday from 1-5.
