Genevieve "Gene" Law Williamson, 102, of Rome, formerly of Utica, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2010 in Rome Hospital. Gene was born in Utica on August 5, 1907, the daughter of Clifford James and Joanna (Maher) Law. She was raised and educated in Utica and attended St. Agnes and St. Peter's Churches. On June 21, 1930, Gene was united in marriage to Alexander R. Williamson. Mr. Williamson passed away August 27, 1971. Gene was employed with NY Telephone for over 30 years and proud to be a "Pioneer". After her retirement from the company, she worked part-time at the switchboard for St. Elizabeth Hospital. Genevieve is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Shirley W. Pritchard, Rome, Mary Joanne and Roy Schultz, Trenton. She also leaves 13 grandchildren and their spouses, as well as 25 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and their families. Gene was predeceased by two sons, John and James Williamson; three sisters, Nina Dyer, Anna Gronsky, and Mary Law; and a son in law, Howard J. Pritchard. Gene was the last of her generation. Mrs. Williamson's funeral will be held on Friday, January 22, 2010 at 11:30 am at St. Peter's Church, North Utica, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. A spring interment will take place in St. Peter's Cemetery, North Utica. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Road, N. Utica on Friday morning from 10 - 11 am prior to the Funeral Mass. Gene's request is that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a charity of your choice in her memory. The family would like to thank Dr. A. Catronea and Dr. N. Tallandini as well as the wonderful staff of the residential floor of Rome Hospital for the excellent care and kindness given to our Mother.
