Cadet R. Moriarty, 87, of New Hartford, formerly of Clinton, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 2, 2010 in Faxton - St. Luke's Healthcare Center, New Hartford. Cadet was born in Rome, NY on November 16, 1922, the son of Daniel and Flossie (Brown) Moriarty. He was raised and educated in Clinton. Cadet served his country during World War II with the US Army, stationed in Luzon, New Guinea, and the Philippines. On December 6, 1947, Cadet married Alice Burns in St. Mary's Church, Clinton. He was employed with Chicago Pneumatic for 32 years, retiring in 1982. Cadet was a member of the Helmuth-Ingalls American Legion Post 232, Franklin Springs and member of St. Mary's Church, Clinton. Cadet is survived by his beloved wife, Alice Moriarty, New Hartford; a son and daughter-in-law, James M. and Heidi Moriarty, Marlboro, MA; three cherished grandchildren, Chris Moriarty, Marlboro, MA, Douglas and Jennifer, Florida; and also several great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Ann (Mrs. Daniel) Moriarty, Oriskany, as well as by many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Cadet is predeceased by a son, Cadet Douglas "Doug", in 2002, and by two sisters and three brothers, Agnes, Virginia, Francis, Murto, and Daniel. Mr. Moriarty's funeral will be held on Friday, January 8, 2010 at 11:00 am in St. Mary's Church, Clinton where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Heintz Funeral Home, 10 East Park Row, Clinton on Thursday evening, from 5 - 7 pm. The Helmuth-Ingalls American Legion Post 232 will be conducting their service in Cadet's honor at 6:45 pm. Those wishing may donate to the American Heart Association in Cadet's memory.
