Stephen R. Conway, 27 of Harvard Dr., Clinton passed away Tuesday October 27, 2009. Stephen was born in Utica on April 15, 1982 the son of Robert K. and Nancy A. (Welchons) Conway. He was raised in Clinton, was a graduate of Clinton High School class of 2000 where he participated as a drummer in their marching band. He worked throughout his life in the construction field and was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Clinton. Stephen was a very thoughtful, sensitive and kind son, brother, grandson, nephew and cousin. He would always be the first to lend a helping hand. His cooking skills never ceased to amaze his family. He would have some creation waiting for his mother when she came home from work. Stephen was an avid New York Yankees and Buffalo Bills fan and recently became a fan of the Indy Car Series. He will be remembered for his warm smile and always seeing the best in others. His fondest family memory was celebrating his granddad's 80th birthday in Disney World. He was a devoted big brother to his special sister, Ann. She was his pride and joy and diligently looked after her. Stephen would spend countless hours listening to music with her. Ann now has her big brother as her guardian angel who will always be looking over her. He will be missed more than words can say. Besides his parents, he leaves 2 sisters, Amy of Sarasota, Fl and Ann at Home and a brother Kevin at home; He also leaves his "granddad", Richard Welchons of New Hartford; aunts and uncles, David and MaryEllen (Conway) Welchons of Clinton, Susan Shapland of Louisville, KY, Tim and Kathie Welchons of New Hartford, Diane (Welchons) and Phil Mort of Santa Clara, CA, Steven Welchons of New Hartford, Peggy (Welchons) and Gary Lonczak of Marcy, Teresa (Conway) and Jim Cavo of Hilton Head, SC, Bonnie (Conway) and Steve Pennoyer of Washington State, Michael and Anne Conway of Clinton, Roseann (Conway) and Steve Shablak of Rome, Sharon (Conway) and Joe Cozza of New Hartford, Kathleen (Conway) and Bob Applegate of West Winfield, Nancy (Conway) and Cosmo Castellano of New Hartford, Meg (Conway) and Jim Clifford of New Hartford and Patrick and Pam Conway of Clinton and numerous cousins. He was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Dolores Welchons and paternal grandparents, John and Ellen Conway. Stephen's funeral will be held on Saturday October 31, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church where his mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Whitesboro. Calling hours for family and friends are Friday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home 10 E. Park Row Clinton. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Central Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired or the American Diabetes Association in Stephen's memory.
