Obituary of Raymond P. Sinnott

Raymond P. Sinnott, 64, passed away unexpectedly August 14, 2009, at St. Lukes Healthcare Center. Raymond was born January 28, 1945, in Utica, NY, the son of John and Loretta (Mack) Sinnott. He was raised and educated in Utica and was a graduate of UFA. Ray joined the US Marine Corp in 1963, and due to a disability, retired in 1967. He later attended MVCC. At St. Joseph-St. Patrick Church, Utica, on January 28, 1973, Ray was married to Carol A. Blum. Ray was employed by the US Postal Service, retiring in 1999. He also spent many happy hours bartending in his younger years at the Oriskany Grill and the Oval Inn. Ray was of the Catholic faith. He was a member of the American Legion Post #229, Utica and a Past Commander. He was also involved with the Color Guard of the Post. He was a member of the VFW Post 9591 of Clinton, a member of the Marine Corp League, a member of the 40 & 8, a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America and a member of the Tramp in Trail Club. Rays enthusiastic times were mostly spent with his outside activities. Ray is survived by his darling wife, Carol; one daughter, Tammy A. Sinnott of Oneida; a son, Raymond P. Sinnott, II and his wife, Alexis of Brooklyn; two cherished grandchildren, Gabrielle Sinnott and Sylvester Sinnott-Wynn; five sisters, Sr. John Loretta, Helen Roberts and her husband, Carl, Sue Langolf and her husand, Dick, Veronica "Toots" Przybyla and her husband, Bill Duke, and Delores Oliver and her husband, Robert; and two brothers, James Sinnott and Tom (Marion) Sinnott. He was also predeceased by four sisters and three brothers, Rosemarie, Pat, Jane, Barb, Jack, Michael and Bob. He leaves many special nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends, Joe and Dar Mutolo, Bob Voce and Walt Zainchowski. Mr. Sinnott's funeral will be held Wednesday, August 19, 2009, at 10:15 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica, and at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Rosary Church, New Hartford. His burial will take place in St. Georges Cemetery, Whitestown. Calling hours at the Heintz Funeral Home will be held Tuesday evening from 4-8 pm.
