Obituary of Elaine Brady Cheyne

Mrs. Elaine Brady Cheyne of Candlewyck Apartments passed away on Saturday August 15, 2009 after a brief illness. Elaine was born in Utica on December 8, 1916 the daughter of the late Jules and Anna (Deschene) Doucet. She was a graduate of Utica Free Academy class of 1936. Mrs. Cheyne was employed with Harold T. Lennon Jewelers, Cherwyns Apparel Shop and lastly with the Berry Company of Rochester, retiring in 1980. She was a parishioner of St. Peter's Church, N. Utica and the Alter Rosary Society at the church. She loved her family and friends, music and nature. Mrs. Cheyne is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Kevin W. and Peggy Brady of New Hartford; two grandsons, Kevin W. Brady, Jr. and his fiancée Alicia Scaly of Ithaca and Scott Brady and his girlfriend Laura Tartaglia of Whitesboro; one granddaughter, Kelly Chase and her husband Joshua of Ithaca and one great grandson, Brady David Chase of Ithaca; In addition she is survived by two stepsons, James Cheyne and his wife Arlene of Utica and Stewart Cheyne of CA; one step-daughter, Carol Cheyne of FL; Two sisters, Shirley Doucet of Utica and Rose Sharpe of Wellington, OH; one brother-in-law, Robert Elder of Marcy, and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She was predeceased by a sister, Julienne Elder. Mrs. Cheyne's memorial mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday August 20, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Church in N. Utica. Interment will be held in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Whitesboro. There are no calling hours. Those wishing to make a donation in Elaine's memory please consider Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc. or the Abraham House. The family wishes to thank the staff on 3-B at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Dr. Butala's staff and the Abraham House for the tender and loving care given to Elaine.
